Metro Jaya Police Foil Attempt to Smuggle 143 Kilograms of Marijuana in Tangerang

Tangerang, Xweb.biz.id – The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive 143 kilograms of marijuana in Tanah Tinggi, Tangerang, on the night of Friday, May 2.

In a statement released Saturday, Kombes Ahmad David, Director of Drug Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, confirmed that two suspects had been arrested during the operation: ESL, also known as Imron (37), and RM (47).

The operation began after officers received a public tip-off regarding suspicious activity near Jalan Daan Mogot KM 24. Acting on this intelligence, officers launched an investigation and conducted surveillance in the area.

“At around 8:20 PM WIB, we apprehended suspect ESL, who was guarding five suitcases and two boxes suspected of containing marijuana,” said David. ESL reportedly told police he had been instructed by his younger brother, identified only as T, to watch over the packages until they were collected by a buyer.

Roughly an hour later, another individual, RM, arrived to retrieve the packages. He was immediately arrested by officers at the scene. During questioning, RM admitted that he had been ordered to collect the drugs by a person known as U.

Authorities seized 143 packages of marijuana from the scene, weighing approximately 143 kilograms in total.

“The two suspects and the seized evidence have been taken to the police station for further investigation,” David concluded.
