Jakarta, Xweb.biz.id – South Jakarta Police have uncovered a land dispute-related riot in the Kemang Raya area, which escalated on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, around 09:25 WIB. The altercation involved a group of 10 suspects who were arrested for assault and the misuse of firearms. The suspects, according to the authorities, were part of a security service provider group.
“The 10 people we arrested are part of a security services group,” said AKP Igo Fazar Akbar, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, during a press conference on Friday. The suspects have admitted to possessing legal certificates for the disputed land.
However, police are still investigating the full extent of the situation, including identifying who hired the security services and how much money was involved in the arrangement. “It is still being investigated. We have not yet determined who ordered the security services. We are still looking into this,” said AKP Igo.
The riot involved the suspects, who were armed with weapons, including four PVC air rifles and three machetes. Authorities revealed that the weapons were purchased in Jakarta, and investigations are underway to trace the seller. “Based on information from the perpetrators, they bought these weapons in Jakarta,” said Commissioner Murodih, Head of Public Relations for the South Jakarta Metro Police.
Despite the severity of the situation, it was confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities in the incident. The chaos broke out when two parties, one attempting to enter a disputed piece of land and the other being the land’s heirs, clashed. The conflict quickly escalated when firearms were drawn, causing a traffic jam in the area. Police from Mampang and South Jakarta Metro Police responded quickly to secure the situation.
Authorities have named 10 suspects in the case: KT (43), AS alias Agus (22), MW (29), YA (28), YE (26), PW (33), RTA (59), WRR (22), MAG alias Ade (40), and AK alias Andy (47). They face charges under Article 1 paragraph (1) of Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951, concerning the possession of firearms, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. Additionally, they are charged under Article 2 paragraph (1) of the same law, relating to the misuse of sharp weapons, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
The police have called on security service providers and groups to fulfill their duties properly and refrain from engaging in violent or unlawful acts. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities work to determine all those responsible for the land dispute and subsequent violence.
